Pastel Hair

Thursday, March 15th, 2012

Meeting with Erin Anderson was a blast.  When I asked her what is new and exciting she shared, “Everyone has pastel hair!”   I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to celebrate spring.  She had a few other ideas that I will let you in on next posting.

Who’s Erin?

Sunday, March 11th, 2012

There are few people in the world that have a vast impact on my life. Erin Anderson is one.  Her hands created the floating tresses in the image above.

She is relentless in her quest for finding the best tools for high fashion.  In her tool box:  Her own salon and apothecary (WOODLEY & BUNNEY),  and her editorial styling career that has graced the cover of well respected indie magazines such as Nylon and Paper.  While on shoot in Stockholm, she wandered into a pharmacy in search of the next great product and…there it was:  Sachajuan.  The world needed this product and she decided to distribute it.  Thank you, Erin.

Erin will be visiting me on Wednesday to brainstorm on ways to make the world a more beautiful place.  I will pass it on.

Pop

Sunday, March 4th, 2012

Bright and Bold colors have hit the 2012 fashion runways and are as powerful as the pigment.  Tonic is proud to have found the strongest and most long lasting tint for this new fashion trend.  We are really excited to get creative.

Sachajuan Volume Powder

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

Need I say more?  The beauty of Sachajuan is in the simplicity.  You get volume.  It is a powder.  No stickiness.  It lasts all day.  You can shake it up throughout the day for more volume, push it down for less. Every client who has tried it loves it, just ask Kelly.  If you want to go big, here is your solution.

2011 Sachajuan Event in Brooklyn: Svensk-Art

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Three fabulous days in Brooklyn.  Svenks-Art was the 2011 Sachajuan event were we watched demonstrations and took a cutting class from the founder of Sachajuan, Sacha Mitic.  They key information learned at this event:  Sachajuan leaves the hair light and full.  If you want more volume, use more product.  It will not flake of become sticky.  It is created to produce beautiful, natural looking hair.  See photos of the event here.

Salon Tonic Attends an Oribe “Atelier”

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Salon Tonic was honored to be invited to and attend a hands on workshop in San Fransisco on September 27th with the master himself:  Oribe.  His appearances are becoming rare as his product line swells with success.   He is an amazing man with a vast amount of inspiring energy.  We love Oribe almost as much as his products.

Tonic Loves A Party

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Tonic loves a party! Our anniversary party was a beautiful smash. Thank you to all our friends that stopped in to enjoy the celebration. I’m always amazed at how beautiful, fun and talented our family is here. Clients, friends and fans you all looked stunning.
By 8 o’clock the salon was packed. Appetizers were being passed by two beautiful girls (thanks Kenzie and Stephanie) and everyone was asking “who made these?” Kate Murray of misssushisandiego.com, created a vegetarian feast of sweet and savory sushi-inspired bites that simply put was the BEST sushi I’ve ever eaten. Totally scrumptious. Thanks Kate and Jason! For dessert, Angela Mueller, of TheBeautyBakery.com, designed a beautiful display of delicious mini cupcakes that must be seen to be fully appreciated. Were you lucky enough to score a handful of Mexican chocolate or spicy chipolte almonds? Yummy! Where can you get them? Hopkinsag.com or check out their stand at the Little Italy farmers market on Saturdays. If you thought the gin and tonics were unusually delicious (I did!) it’s because Breanne Dreisbach hooked us up with Tanqueray Rangpur. Thanks Breanne! Did the sexy bartender look familiar? Turns out Acacia, our beautiful receptionist, is a natural drink slinger! Who knew?
At 830 the band commenced. Did you recognize the frontman, ahem frontwoman! playing the guitar and the keyboard? Our very own Maren and her band, Maren Parusel, wowed the crowd with fresh melodic tunes. Look for their digital music release in the next few weeks.
I’d like to thank Neil and Shae, barbacks extraordinaire, who ran the behind the scenes show like pros. I’d also like to thank Will and Nick, our handsome doormen.
To all the stylists, and Jenna, our fabulous esthetician, thank you for making the world more beautiful. Your dedication to your craft and your attention to each client is inspiring.
Finally thank you to Sharon, whose vision and tireless effort continues to amaze and impress me. I’m so proud of you sis.
Happy 10 Tonic.

Ronnie Stam at UST

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

We LOVE education. I decided to nickname the salon UST. University of Salon Tonic. Oribe Editorial Stylist Ronnie Stam taught an amazing and inspiring class last Wednesday evening to the entire salon TONIC staff. Having toured with the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith, coiffed numerous supermodels and celebrities, and previously owned a salon in Amsterdam, he was brimming with experience and knowledge that we all soaked up. You can view the photos from the evening here. My most memorable moment was when he said, “The salon should be a training center to educate everyone- including clients- on how to do better hair.” I couldn’t agree more. Salon TONIC and Oribe are partners in making the world a more beautiful place, one head of hair at a time. Let us make you more beautiful.

It’s a MIHO Holiday!

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Today at 1:45 salon Tonic is being graced by the presence (presents?) of MIHO Gastrotruck for lunch. MIHO Gastrotruck uses fresh, local, and thoughtfully-sourced ingredients to create hand-crafted street food that is affordable, convenient, and delicious. Check out their website here. And a special Thank You to Nora at Goldwell for hosting this event. Not only does Goldwell provide us with an amazing color line and education, they are super cool, too. This is a recent color trend event video that I found on You Tube
